There is more to you than just the Academic. The enrichment opportunities on offer at Thorpe St Andrew Sixth Form allow students to show this through additional courses and experiences. Students undertaking an enrichment may choose one with UCAS points to help with their application into University while others may wish to opt for an enrichment program which gives an experience to draw upon for their future pathways. A typical timetable will have ten hours a fortnight per subject. You will also have your enrichment course, two to four hours a fortnight depending on your course and two hours of Academic Coaching a fortnight. You will also have Personal Development sessions twice a week at Form Time on a Monday and Tuesday. The rest of your timetable will be filled in with iStudies which are study periods when you can carry out your private studies in your Sixth Form facilities.
If you forget your badge, you will need to sign in immediately with the Sixth Form Team in the Sixth Form Centre where you will receive a temporary badge for the day.
No, you don’t have to wear a uniform.
However, the dress code for the Sixth Form is one of a ‘modern workplace’. This does not have to mean a formal suit and tie, it is simply smart, professional attire.
The following is considered to be inappropriate dress for the Sixth Form:
Extreme hair colour/styles
Facial piercings
Flip-flops (as a matter of Health and Safety)
Short skirts/dresses/shorts that are above the mid-thigh
Torn jeans
Clothing bearing extreme slogans or symbols which may cause offence to others
Low cut tops and tops which expose the midriff
The 16-19 Bursary is available to all households whose income is 25k or under.
The Bursary gives financial support for trips, university visits, travel to school, meals during the school day and the loan of a laptop.
There is also a mandatory Bursary available to those students who are LAC or claim disability living allowance; these students can receive 1,200 per year. Please complete the 16-19 Bursary forms and return if eligible, these forms can be found by clicking here.
Yes you can, but you will need to sign in and out with your badge so we know when you are on and off site in emergencies.
Sainsbury’s and the Co-op are within walking distance although you only have 30 minutes for lunch. You must be back in time for assembly or Personal Development (PD) sessions and one to one mentoring on the days your tutor books you in. Days you do not have these PD time should be used for study.
The first lesson is at 8:40am and the school finishes at 3:05pm.
Bare in mind there is a period 6 in some subjects so you might finish at 4:10pm.
