There is more to you than just the Academic. The enrichment opportunities on offer at Thorpe St Andrew Sixth Form allow students to show this through additional courses and experiences.  Students undertaking an enrichment may choose one with UCAS points to help aid their application into University while others may wish to opt for an enrichment program which gives an experience to draw upon for their future pathways.  We have 13 enrichment courses on offer all of which explore students’ individual skills and talents, please click here for further information.

In addition to our enrichment programme Year 12 students will also undertake Academic Coaching. This is where students within the Sixth Form volunteer time to make a real difference by helping those in the lower school achieve their full potential and therefore giving back to the community.  This can be undertaken in one of your chosen subjects or in other areas around the school, further information Academic Coaching can be undertaken can be found here.

No, you don’t have to wear a uniform.

The following is considered to be inappropriate dress for the Sixth Form:

Extreme hair colour/styles

Facial piercings

Flip-flops (as a matter of Health and Safety)

Short skirts/dresses/shorts that are above the mid-thigh

Torn jeans

Clothing bearing extreme slogans or symbols which may cause offence to others

Low cut tops and tops which expose the midriff

Yes you can, but you will need to sign in and out with your badge so we know when you are on and off site in emergencies. Sainsbury’s and the Co-op are within walking distance although you only have 35 minutes for lunch. You must be back in time for assembly or Personal Development (PD) sessions and one to one mentoring on the days your tutor books you in. Days you do not have these PD time should be used for study.
Once you start we have a two week cooling-off period at the beginning of the term. Should you wish to change a subject, you will need to see Mrs Batson or Ms Bernard to discuss this together.
As soon as you have your results, bring them to the Sixth Form Centre to meet the Sixth Form team who will see if they can offer you another course within our Sixth Form.
See attached the school day. Bear in mind that we sometimes run a Period 6 in some subjects.
Yes, not only can you bring your own device, but this is also something we encourage. Please note that any damage or loss is not covered by the school’s insurance, therefore make sure that your own insurance policy covers you. Wifi is available in all Sixth Form areas.
It is important that you keep a regular routine and therefore, it is strongly encouraged that, no matter at what time your first and last lesson is, you stay on site from 8.25 am until 3.05 pm. If you have study periods during the day, there are plenty of study places where you can carry out private study.
Applications will be accepted from Tuesday 10 November until Monday 30 November. To apply please visit our website and complete the application form.
